PART II
Here is where the hardest part starts. It usually takes 20 minutes of moving and tagging points to get some kind of nice shape.
Select the second spline from the top and move the points so follow closely the shape of the first spline in the side view.
Do the same with the next two spline as seen in the following image.
Make sure that every spline you work on, is smooth and doesn’t have any tense points. If you are not sure what to do with some of the points just stop for a while and look at some magazine with pictures of faces. Next is an image from the front view with 45 degrees angle and you can see how the splines are structured. Try to get something similar.
It is very important that you work from all view at the same time. When you move a point, make sure that it fits correctly in the view you are working on first, and then in the other views as well. There is no easy way out, the only way to get a nice head is to be patient and understand where each point goes. If you have seen some of my heads, you can see how with time they get a little better.
It helps if you use these images as reference while you work on your own head. Before you spend to much time on the mouth, just work on a simple shape until later. You should only work now and the overall shape, do not expect too many details right now. For more detail you need more splines which will be added next.
