erau (pronounced "rau") is one of the enhanced generation
a child who not only benefited from a direct brain to processor connection like the other Children
but also enjoyed a certain number of alterations to his physical structure
his eyesight has been modified to read weaknesses in armour
his limbs are composed of reinforced duranium
at a mere 19 years of age, he is capable of lifting 3 times his own body weight
during the war with the terrans, he served as lieutenant in a stealth squadron
his job was simple
jump out of hyperspace attacking the enemy behind their lines
and jump out before they can react
the position is widely recognised as possibly the most dishonourable during the war
the terrans even had a price on his head
but when the drakkaren invaded
the lines blurred a little
enough to make him wonder which lines he should be jumping in the first place...
erau deserted his post two weeks after the attack
only one member of his squad had appeared at the mission briefing
his friend sarah
it would appear that the lines had lost their clarity too much
no one knew who the enemy was anymore

due to the questionable nature of his duties during the war
erau has a difficult time recruiting people for his mission.
he knows who he can trust and has difficulty extending this trust to anyone else
as a child he learned about the art of war

she is a soldier
and a member of the terran alliance
once faithful to her breed
she's no longer sure
her parents were soldiers
as were their parents
her mother was the hero of garrian vii
at the start of the war she was quite sure as to the success of her people over that of the Children
but as the war waged on
and as her friends slowly died around her
her belief in the righteousness of her cause began to fade
after the drakkaren attack
kara joined the hundreds of deserters
not sure where she was going
only sure that she didn't want to keep fighting the Children
who wants to fight
when everyone was going to die anyway....
kara was pushed into the drakkaren war by her past association with the military
she was on kobal when the drakkaren first attacked
she was one of only six survivors who managed to pull themselves from the rubble
her surviving was taken as a sign all over the terran alliance
some said she had been blessed and would be the one to deliver the terrans from both the Children and the new enemy
others claimed that she was responsible for the incursion
kara used this popularity to mount a counter offensive against the drakkaren homeworld
but failed in her attempt
after the terran alliance bombed her headquarters deciding that they wished to reach a diplomatic end to the war.
the invaders did not listen
and within weeks the entire alliance was in ruins.
kara begins the game just after receiving news of the destruction of the organised terran military
she leaves mars, in search of the enemy homeworld. deciding first to head for ferrin,
a recently attacked world
in hopes of learning more about her new enemy

kara was not popular among the Children during the past war
and as a result will have some difficulty recruiting members of that breed.
she is an excellent leader who does not know defeat, and this will draw people to her
but not all will be for her benefit.
she makes both a powerful ally and a dangerous enemy but her weakness lies in her compassion and trust.
as a child, kara was taught by religious leaders and combat masters
she has come to appreciate the importance of order and patience.
kara's weapon is her mother's sword. forged with the exoskeleton of nemesis invaders who attacked her world five decades ago.

adopted by the state at a young age
after the death of his family during a food riot on his homeworld,
simon is a pacifist who was trained in the art of war from childhood
and escaped to a sanctuary when he came of age.
while he is a pacifist at heart, drake does not lack the skill required to survive in combat
using the whip for distance attack will do
but he prefers the feel of hand to hand
a deeply buried frustration with the world is hidden in his heart
left behind with the death of his family
as well as from his conditioning in the years under the state.
his heart lies in the healing touch
the ability to heal
if he had his life to do over again
he would have followed his heart into the healing arts

as he's looking for purpose in his life
and thinks that maybe he might end up a martyr some day....
simon is effective with both light weapons and white magic
but he's not capable of carrying the heavier weapons and armour

an x-bounty hunter who owes allegiance to no one
and therefore has little interest in the current conflict
she has survived the past war by watching out for herself
has no family
no friends
and a distrustful attitude
her skin bears multiple scars from her various travels
the most prominent of which lies above her left eye
which she received as a young child
abandoned by her parents and left to survive on the streets of her homeworld
she was attacked and beaten by others who were interested in the bread she'd stolen
no one has ever cared for her
and she has in return
never cared for anyone else
her weapon of choice is the scourge
a long metallic whip, with a serrated claw on the end
an excellent tool for dispatching either species of human

nautica has lived only 23 years in this life,
extremely young considering the longevity of her race
she has survived by trading her services as healer for shelter and food along her way
she has no home
no family
and no friends
and most importantly
she likes her life
as her race has not been targeted by the new enemy
she has no inclination to join either side in the fight
her cause is life
and the preservation of it
if she can be persuaded that your cause is just
and not merely another attempt to put one race above another
she just may join you
her strongest avatar is water
therefore her strongest spells are based in that area
among her summoned monsters are leviathan, siva, proteus and ancamna
fitting to her character, nautica makes a terrible warrior.
she cannot wield heavy weapons or support strong armour
she is instead well suited with a heavy robe and staff
and should be kept in the back row to avoid physical damage
her magic is strong however
both a gifted healer and devastating sorceress
her heart commands the seas
and so many of her attacks are water based
traits

as a character who respects life above all else
it can be extremely difficult to convince her to join the party
the deeds you perform must convince her
that you have no interest in promoting your own "breed"
and that you are rather trying to save both sides from destruction

not all the veln were pacifists
there were some in fact who made it their business
to interfere with the lives of both the nemesis and the terran alliance.
odin lived as a sort of space pirate during the years before the new enemy came
invading supply lines on both sides of the war
stripping cargo from transports
underneath the thick shell of the hardened criminal he believes himself to be
lies the heart of human patriot
and the soul of a warrior
the strongest of the three veln who may join you on your journey
odin is wary of the war and does not wish to get involved
not because he is afraid of dying
but because he is afraid that he might die
leaving his daughter to fend for herself.

an age old priest of the old order -
a faith existing long before humanity reached space
ursa's strength lies in holy magic
that which controls the universe around us
standing a mere 5'9"
she hobbles about
leaning on her staff for support
and relying upon her magic to maintain her strength
the reasons for ursa's intrest in your quest are questionable
she only seems to show a simple intrest or curiosity
nothing substantial enough to warrant risking her life
or is there...
there has been some speculation that the new enemy
is somehow linked to the old order
but that rumor has yet to be confirmed
while ursa may be increadibly powerful
as a priest, she serves mainly as a healing member of your team
left in the back row most often
she casts conditional and healing spells
occasionally taking her turn on the offensive
with some costly but obscenely damaging spells

orion possesses a deep hatred for the alliance
as it was they who 'cursed' them with this form

a nemesis female who has undiscovered roots with the veln
since she was young, she's possessed certain skills that simply could not be replicated by any sort of science
and because of the value of these skills
she has been forced to hide them from those around her
erau, her childhood friend is the only one who knows her secrets
as she serves as a sort of concience for the young man
calming his temper when he begins to lose control
and supporting him when he needs it
