this is the section for the details of the story -- the word story is used because union is not just a game, it's a tale in which the player takes part; this is perhaps the most important detail people should know.

story development
you are either terran or nemesis
once faithful to your breed
you're not sure anymore
the enemy has always been the same people
until now
as you fight this new force you begin to see something different
realising your real enemy you move to organise a force against it
you travel to other worlds and meet with both terrans and Children
they tell you how neither side is meeting with success against them
you acquire new weapons
and ships
as well as allies
all of these depend on how you act
and what you say
if you make it a point to start a fight every time you meet a human not of your breed,
it is unlikely they will join you in your fight
as you form a small group bent on eliminating this new race
the end of the game sees you and any allies you aquire
at the drakkaren homeworld
at your side is not only your party,
but a combined fleet of terran and children ships
the armada bombs the headquarters,
while your band penetrates the capitol and attempts to assasinate the Drakkaren leader
before she/he/it enables its biggest weapon
but when you enter the throneroom you find yourself
pitted not against a man
but a voice
one voice
brought here by "the one" to teach the human race
the folly of its ways
you fight
and if you win
the voice dies
taking with it
both the terran and nemesis homeworlds

other basics ideally, the player will have numerous ways to end the game,
there will, of course be only two measurable outcomes
(s)he and his/her party will die
or the Drakkaren fleet will be destroyed.
but the variance lies in how the player interacts with the party
without allies from both human factions, victory is not possible
but your relations with individuals throught the game
will allow you to aquire items not attainable by any other means
final fmv sequences may be different,
depending on your relationships with certain characters
for example
sarah could sacrifice her life for erau's
and he could fall in love with roselin
(unleashing a hidden union skill)
and they could retire to a nemesis colony
or a similar relationship could develop between roselin and simon drake
but because of the friction between races,
they could venture out into space together leaving their "realatives" behind.
it all depends on how you play
