Portfolio

Before my portfolio I want to let you know a few things about myself. I graduated from Vancouver Film School's Game Design program, there I was taught many aspects of game design. From things such as pre-production to in depth aspects of mechanic design. I was also taught many software programs ranging from UT-Editor to Adobe Flash to Avid Pro Tools.

"It's time to take back the closet"

A 2D Action Platformer, in which a boy fights in his dreams & nightmares, developed on a Flash engine called Citrus. In Travis' Terror, players must do their best to influence the terror gauge to stay in the safer dream mode. Players will have to get through many obstacles and enemies in order to reach the final boss, the Boogeyman.

Myself, Kevin Maloney, and Ryan Hearn created this game during our time at Vancouver Film School. It took 3 months of hard work to complete, but we managed to pull through as a team and come out with something we're all very proud of.

I was the Lead Programmer, Lead Audio Designer and Lead Front-End Designer for Travis' Terror, as well as a Game Designer for this project a long with my two other teamates.

Corpulent

The goal of the game is to beat a level in a certain amount of time, defeat a villain, other player, or to simply sandbox around the city.
In Corpulent you are a hero of the city, a super-fat-hero, and most missions will be based on your goal to help stop crime in the city.

Corpulent was nominated as "best game concept" during our graduation awards show, here is the short clip made to explain the game in under 10 seconds.

Rhint

Rhint is a game where you play as a character mounted on top of a beast throughout the entirety of the game. The character in which you will be playing is an ant; whereas the character you will feel you are controlling is the Bearded Dragon the ant is riding.

The basis of the game is to gain enough food for both you and the bearded dragon to survive while trying to get back to your colony. In order to get to your final destination you will be tested in your ability to hunt, hide, scare, and solve puzzles throughout the desert terrain.

One thing I tried to focus on the most in this concept doc was the art direction of the game.

Hallucinogenic GDD (W.I.P.)

"Live in the world the mind creates"

Hallucinogenic is a first person shooter game where you play a young woman (Karen) who suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome which causes her to have flashbacks and hallucinations. Imagine a girl trapped in her past, while being in the present. When playing, the overall goal is to get through a decently sized war without dying as Karen’s mind believes it to be so real it will actually kill her.

Throughout this journey there will be multiple battles to fight through while the game remains extremely realistic. Karen will also be suffering from hallucinations that you & her will both believe are real. Losing comes through being killed in a flashback, or the real world inside the mental institution.

Audio

I created the audio for the video below. Many of the sounds were heavily modified clips from the VFS sound bank, the rest were original sounds. I did not create the video or animation/art.
