EARLY CINEMA

The story goes that D.W. Griffiths was expected to begin filming in Kansas, or some other mid western state. When he stepped off the train and looked around, he had second thoughts. Basically, he realised that he didn't want to be stranded in this barren wasteland for very long. He had heard of a place where oranges grew, and where the air was sweet and fragrant. A place called Hollywood.
