Intro to Post Production
The Intro to Post Production course is a component in the
Vancouver Film School's Sound Design for Visual Media program. This
8 week long course, occuring in the 2nd term, is meant to introduce
students to the basic premises behind sound effect editing for film
and other visual media, focusing on the editing of 5 elements, BGs,
Foley, Dialogue, SFX and SPFX. A variety of film clips will demonstrate
different approaches and methods that editors use in editing BGs.
The first class presents an overview of film sound and vocabulary,
and introduces students to their first deliverable project. The
second class continues with the previewing of film clips and also
allows for further input into their first deliverable. The third
class is a lab, meant to provide additional time to explore the
possibilities in the first project. The fourth class provides time
for the Instructor to listen to each students work at leisure and
provide feedback on the project so far. The fifth class continues
with the previewing of film clips and introduces students to their
second deliverable project. The final class concludes with a glossary
test.
loads of luck, Patrick Gurr.
